Chelsea Football Club (Chelsea FC or Chelsea FC for short) is an English football club based in the Fulham area of London. Financially, Chelsea is the 8th most valuable football club in the world (as of 2022) with a value of $3.1 billion. Since May 2022, an ownership group consisting of Clearlake Capital Group, Todd Boehly, Mark Walter and Hansjörg Wyss, has become the new owner of Chelsea FC Holdings Limited and thus also owners of Chelsea FC and Chelsea FC Women. Previously, Russian-Israeli billionaire Roman Abramovich had been the owner of the club since 2003. In February 2022 he handed over the management of the club to the trustees of the Chelsea Foundation, a week later he put the club up for sale.

Chelsea Football Club spent more than €600m on transfers in the 2022/23 season, setting a new record. Under the new owner, the club reached new dimensions. Nicolas Fernandez's €121m transfer is the most expensive transfer in Premier League history, making him the most expensive midfielder and Argentina footballer of all time.
